Back before we even knew where our second location was going to be, we KNEW we had to have a lathe to go in it

We have had the lathe for over 8 months… Just sitting there, not doing a thing. Last week… WIERDEER & the HG lathe changed all that

Wierdeer has been itching to get on the lathe, and with good reason! His last tube didnt come out so bad…

Before we go any further, lets take a look into Customs, outside the glass world

Wikipedia defines the word BESPOKE

Bespoke is a British English term employed in a variety of applications to mean an item custom-made to the buyer’s specification. While applied to many items now, from computer software to luxury car appointments, the term historically was only applied to tailored clothing, shirts and other parts of men’s apparel involving measurement and fitting.”

Many companies employ Bespoke programs into their retail design to allow the few die hard customers a chance to custom design their dream product. Nothing anyone has ever seen before…

Recently, Blues legend Eric Clapton placed a Bespoke order with Italian auto manufacturer FERRARI for a one of a kind car. When visiting their factory, Clapton, a HUGE Ferrari head decided to talk them into producing one of their new V8 458 Italia’s… but with the engine from essentially an Enzo or the 599 GTB Fiorano. You can even find Bespoke programs existing within companies such as Sun Microsystems, and even… Nike!

Nike has a studio dedicated to the biggest of sneaker heads in NY. If you can get past the multi month waiting list, and the $800+ Bill, you can come sit down with a designer and spit your dream onto the canvas of your preferred Nike model

They actually have someone who HAND SKETCHES your shoe, right in front of you. If ya have a couple minutes check our Marcus Troys video from his Bespoke trip to check it out

Tons of companies make it a point to bring an added experience into the hands of the TRUE collectors, not just the people that have $$ to spend. So.. what does this have to do with glass? For a while now, Heady Glass Gallery has offered a Heady on Demand program. With what Wierdeer did last weekend for one lucky collector, it became a true Bespoke program, possibly one of the first of its kind in glass retail yet

HG Studios had its FIRST custom request since our last demo, and it couldnt have come from a bigger collector. The person who purchased our FIRST EVER tube we had on the shelves at our old location in 2007, is still shopping with us!! To thank him, Wierdeer gave him a front row seat, and let him call the shots.

With extracts becoming more popular, he decided on a Rasta themed Mini tube, in 32mm Heavy Wall tubing. To accent the work, he requested a Stemless Inline arm W/ a Gridded diffusion pattern

Instead of a straight, he opted for a bubble bottom to give the inline arm a little more surface area, and a tad bit more air capacity. With those suggestions on the table, he let Wierdeer run with it. When we pulled the kiln door open a day later, it was like christmas

Wierdeer & HG’s first lathe tube EVER!!!! Pictures can not begin to show the quality of this tube. Immaculate line work coupled with an amazing diffusion system… and it was only our first try? Were going to have more information on our Bespoke program in the following days. As always though, feel free to send your custom requests to customerservice@headyglass.com

Goes without saying, but with this hurdle behind us, youll be seeing TONS of new gear from Wierdeer & HG! Stay tuned
