Its like killing a unicorn

February 20th, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

Thats what someone said to me today in regards to the Illadelph hura-coil’s, and if they are infact TOO nice of a piece of art to use. He then told me it was like killing a unicorn…. Really? Like killing a fucking unicorn? Damn…

(I dont know who that lady is, but I couldnt pass up an opportunity to post a picture like this…look how happy she is!!!)

So since were on the subject of killing unicorns, Illadelph came hardbody with one of their new customs. Can ya guess who its for?

Uhhhh…. what? As if they havnt been going hard enough in 09′ already, Illadelph stepped it way up with this vicious 1-off custom for none other than TEAM ILLADELPH competing in the AKA Rally

Speaking of killing a unicorn, imagine if they roll this beautiful Porsche Cayenne Turbo Custom being driven in the AKA Rally. Hey atleast you’d still have a siiiick tube, right?

and speaking of killing unicorns and sick custom Illadelphs…..

Well, not so much killing unicorns, but this is ONE HELL of an Illadelph Custom!

This bad boy was custom ordered by one hell of a collector. I don’t know about you, but I have never seen an AC with that much fore-thought. Big joint for interchangeable arms, a spill chamber with an up-stem to make sure you get NO water back in the tube, and the joint angle is pretty intriguing; and that’s just the AC. Stay tuned, cause well make sure to do a full feature on this monster when it comes in.

Yesterday, we posted up pictures of our new tube line, Heady Glass. Since then, we have gotten a BUNCH of E-mails (thanks everyone) for people trying to get their hands on them. Before we put them up for sale though, we wanted to take an in-depth look at our new tubes.

We’ve said it many times. We are collectors as well, and we understand the need for versatility in your tube selection. Further more, when you have friends over, your going to be reluctant to pull out a $1000 piece of art. Realizing this, we set out to get a line of tubes made that were easier on the wallet, while tough through use

With our first run, we went big. We had a handful of tight bubble bottoms made, Ranging from 27-29″. We wanted the tubes to stand out though, so we equipped them with blasted downstems

All of the tubes were made with SIMAX 5mmX55mm glass to make sure it had some structual integrity, while still performing perfectly.

What would a Heady Glass tube be though without a clean blasted logo?

To top it off, their going to be on some hella discount type shit for the weekend. Say….$139.99?

Maybe if that’s not cheap enough, FREE would work? But your probably all like “Awww damn how am I gonna get one for free?”

March 3rd, @ FAMILY AFFAIR, its gonna go down. More info to come, but you guys can look forward to pieces on display from Brock, Illadelph, Lostin Glass, SG Sovereignty, all along side the hottest threads ANYONE has to offer. Think were kidding??

These guys are up their necks in 10XDEEP, Nikes, Evisu, Johnny Cupcakes, and anything else worth wearing. When our 2 companies sit down for dinner, crazy ideas get tossed around. Who would have thought shoes, hats, and T-shirts look good on display next to pipes? We did.

So what about that FREE TUBE? Well be giving away a custom Heady Glass X Family Affair tube, FOR FREE!

Well be dropping more info as it gets closer, but we can assure you this is one event you DON’T want to miss.

My god slides are addicting…. I remember when I got my first gong tube years ago. It was almost like the same epiphany  you had when you first started playing with legos. The “Oh.. my..god, I can build anything I want now” feeling was overwhelming to say the least. The next few visits to the local headshop though made it a disappointing hobby. No one ever had a cool slide, and when they did, it wasnt even the size ya needed. It was almost a sick game someone was playing just to mess with us.

Seeing what it was like to aquire nasty slides made us promise ourselves we would always have as many slides, from as many artists as possible.

Heady Glass Gallery has always felt blessed to be one of the only retailers carrying 2 of the best, El Hefe & Kennaroo!

Since they really are 2 of the best doing it, we thought it would be cool to give a little more insight into the artists behind the pieces…

Many people know Kennaroo for his un-mistakable heady slide. His color ways pop, and his craftsmanship is second to none. Simply put, he is one of the best slide makers today, PERIOD.

Since our first day, we have watched Kennaroos work progress even further on our shelves, and were proud to say we still stock his work.

Kennaroo has come quite a way since his first couple attempts at gong slide though….as hard as it is to tell…

If you find yourself craving a full bodied push slide with Millis, Opals, Paddle, or Marbles… or all Kennaroo is your man. However, if you like some variation and a bit of straight insanity in your slides, our man El Hefe might be the one to do it…

This dude is a VERY prominent force in the glass on glass slide scene. Recently, he has been tearing shit up with his seamless window slides, and his new facet line…

Even aside from looks, El Hefe makes sure his pieces are functional. How functional? Well, hes pretty much patented the “Vapor-Tini” by now.

For those that dont know, El Hefe is from the old school. He came up under Mike Fro, and took a bit of a hiatus for a bit. Well, just like Brock, he came back and has been gettin his game tight ever since.

El Hefe is also up on his pipe game too…

Seeing as those are 2 of the biggest slide artists our today, we thought it would only be fair to our collectors if we brought in over 50 of their slides, NEXT WEEK!

Hefe is gonna be breakin us off with some windows, some facets, and who knows what else. As far as Kennaroo? No one knows what bombs that guy is gonna deploy untill he hits the button. You all can bet though that the second we get them, youll know! Everything from Martinis to windows, to push slides, and everything inbetween. Mabey we have gone slide crazy, or were just planning on making the biggest gong creation ever. Either way, both our in state & online collectors will be able to get their hands on them easily.

As the day gets closer, well keep ya updated with some exclusive interviews from both Kennaroo & El Hefe. Keep checking back!

Last but not least… we now HAVE OUR OWN TUBE LINE!!

We just recieved our first batch, and we think weve found a winner. True scientific lathe quality, for a fraction of the price. These 27″ bubble bottoms are thr first of many…. Keep an eye out tomorrow for an In-depth look at these new tubes. What would our own tube line be without a fat opening day discount though? Weve got ya covered so stay tuned!

Oh yea… for all you little rumor lovers, we will be giving away one of these for FREE NEXT WEEKEND! Whats next weekend? Well, Family Affair X HeadyGlass.COM party of coarse….more info tomorrow

Brock who?

February 15th, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

Functional glass art collecting, while in its infancy, has a side of it not most people or collectors are aware of. Before the Blue’s, El Hefe’s, SG Sovereigntys, & Illadelphs were an elite group of glass artists that we can honestly say made this hobby and industry what it is today. Ask any old school collector, or even any of todays top artists who they look up to, and chances are youll hear a few names such as J.Lee, Bob Snodgrass, EZRA, Eli, Ivan, Scott Deppe, Clinton, and others. These artists were part of a handful of others that made up the headiest artists of their time. If you collected glass in the late 90’s to 2003, chances are you have heard about their masterpieces.

Unfortunantly, Just like the pieces we collect, artist tend to fade out, and eventually forgotten…

While it sounds sad, it seperates the pipe makes from the glass artists. How? Well, remember when MJ said he was leaving the NBA? It sent a shockwave through all sports hubs. People were crying infact! But what made this event more powerfull was the fact that HE RETURNED!

and in doing so, brought the house down all over again.

So with that in mind, it was hard to contain our excitement when we were told that one of, if not the GREATEST GLASSBLOWERS OF ALL TIME, BROCK, was getting back into the game. Was it true? just a rumor? We HAD to find out.

But to understand why this was soo special, you have to understand what brock was to functional glass over 10 years ago…

So its no secret now, that Heady Glass Gallery is now the ONLY Illadelph dealer in Denver, and the only one in the state to carry their custom pieces. What most people aren’t aware of is the quality of these tubes! We have been following Illadelph for a long time, and can honestly say there are now poised to take over the tube market within the next 12 months.  Don’t believe us? Well, call us crazy… but has G4 TV EVER DONE A REPORT ON ANY OTHER TUBE COMPANY? Nope!

Illadelph, while they have a sick logo & great looking glass, is a company about performance & quality, hence them only hiring REAL Scientific glass blowers. When we recieved our first Illadelphs earlier this week, we were more than impressed with the clean lines, but the construction caught us off guard for such a well priced tube company. The first thing we noticed was their new SUPER THICK JOINTS! Dont let the pictures fool you, these joints DWARF QUARTERS!
