Pipe Masters
Being from Colorado, we grew up seeing some amazing local work at all the shops. There has always been a long list of glass blowers in Colorado. Sure, Colbert described us as “That oxygen-deprived, granola-snarfing, watery-beer-making, mountain bike-riding, Camelback-toting, Patagonia-wearing, NORAD-adjacent, rectangular state-bordered, John Hickenlooper-mayored, high-miled cesspool.” That could be a huge reason, but well go on. With all these local artists, things were for the most part, the same. While most looked the same, one artists stood out. Bright colors, tight bends, and the most abstract look of any glass pipe we had ever seen.
Fast forward a couple years, a guy by the name of Dave Colton walked in to Heady Glass. We will be honest at first, by the way he was dressed, we thought we were either getting A. Sued or B. A New landlord. The guy looked far from a glass blower to say the least. Well, he asked to show us some pieces…
Right away we knew who he was. Dave Colton, not just one of the best pipe makers in Colorado, but in the Nation was asking to show us pieces. Holy shit…
Colton kept the sickness coming almost every week. He ALWAYS had something new. Dichro chillums, Inline bubblers, he never seemed to have a lack of ideas. That was untill the day he decided to move out of Colorado…
So fast forward a year or so, We get a call. The guy on the other end just happened to be Dave Colton, and he had really out done himself this time…
For us, there is nothing better than a nice slide. Guess ya cant really beat Dave Colton slides then huh?
You could pick these Colton slides out of a line up any day of the week, and we love it. The best part is the fore thought behind EVERY SINGLE SLIDE! He places the pushes in excellent positions, while keeping the flow of the piece universal. While looking at one of these in the sunlight, someone came up and said “Oh wow I get it. Its just a little piece of art that sits in your tube!” Umm…. Sure. While he missed the purpose, he brought a great perspective to the pieces. While most slides look like “slides”, his pieces look like traditional glass art. Far from anything someone would expect to be used on a tube.
While we were at it, we had to snag one of his newest dry styles. That flat edge is where he cuts, and re directs the flow of the piece leaving that flat elbow. Of coarse it has those venecian style supports to make sure none of those appendages or sections break easily. True genius…
So seeing as it wouldnt be fit to call ourselves a gallery without him, were VERY PROUD to welcome Dave Colton and his awesome pieces back to Heady Glass Gallery & for the first time ever, in our HEADY STORE!!!
We have said it in the past but for most, that would be enough. A couple cool slides, and anice dry, call it a day. Well… not for us. Were on an un breakable mission to bring the nicest glass available into your hands. So what else did we grab?
Were now proud to be carrying Alissa’s work. Shes a part of Zzzz West Coast crew, and her skill is unbelievable. Peep the honey comb Unobtanium sections…
This sick White, Yellow, & Green set will be making it’s way online here soon, along with more of her work to come.
But..Were STILL not done…
While wig wags, gong seals, marbles, and overall typical glass patterns are cool, we LOVE seeing the more abstract interpretations of pipes. One of the best taking this approach?
Snic. Hes from Philly, works with the likes of Slinger, Clinton, Deppe, and even Pakoh. Dude is on his game, and guess what??? His work is NOW on display at Heady Glass Gallery!!!
Being true glass heads, we first took note not off the Copper Electroformed body around this piece, but the AWESOME functional shape of the bubbler behind it. Great looking mouth piece, awesome push, and even…

So believe it or not, we STILL havnt posted all the new glass. Tomorrow, well get down on what we snagged from Kraig. Untill then, just be happy when you wake up in the middle of the night tonight after dreaming about Dave Colton slides, it wont just be a dream anymore!

Its a rager
This 4th of July 4-day sale is turning out to be a great hit with everyone. Were glad you guys like the deals. Dave Colton was a Colorado native, and legend. His work is something few can describe…
The guys work is on another level. His colors, style, direction, and even construction isnt that of a normal pipe maker. He uses venecian style supports, PERFECT sized holes, and his functional know-how to make some craaazy pieces.
But, its been a minute since we have hooked up with Colton. Well, thats history. Heady Glass Gallery is EXSTATIC to be displaying Dave Coltons work again. Curious what we have coming in?

Its funny, because right as we were taking this picture about a year an a half ago…
We were saying “Dave if you made slides it would be the coolest thing ever… Aside from diamond tip signing your pieces right in our gallery” Ok so maybe we didnt say the second part, but we did mention slides. Well now, years later, the master has finally kicked some out. Dave, you are THE coolest!

4th of July SALE!

The things you notice…
When you take a second to sit down, and appreciate a tube, you notice things you didnt really expect…
Looks like a normal worked 8-arm mini, right?

Today, Farrah Fawcett passed away as well. Now this, we cant really poke fun at. For the most part, she kept her hands to herself, and didnt go from looking like a women to a dude.
